I just got a unit this month and have been quite disappointed so far, i believe i will close this one at the end of the month and go with someone else. I tried calling to get another unit downstairs and it has been 4 hrs without a return call and when I keep calling, they say the reps are busy. Plus, I can never find a cart to use and in a facility as large as this, you would think that carts would be stocked.
And What
Clean facilities, WONDERFUL DEALS first month free, Beyond OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE. DEVON SELF STORAGE has secured my loyalty as a customer. Will recommend to anyone in need of storage. Please if you’re in the area and checking these reviews swing by and check it out!!!!!!! Would never return to any competitor of there’s one of kind in the storage industry!!! •~•👍

Update: So, a lot has happened since my previous review. At that time, I was told we were placed back on auto-pay. This was a lie. Many more phone calls happened, I kept trying to get back on auto-pay, to get the late fees off, they said they sent an email I never got, it was all very complicated and took up hours upon hours of my life that I didn't have only to ultimately fail. We were customers of this unit for years and would have continued to be customers if they hadn't booted us off of auto and levied us with fines and auction costs. Instead, I just got a text telling me "Sorry to see you go," and no one can tell me anything. I can only assume they were auctioned and all of our personal documents and valuables are now who-knows with who-can-say. The last unit was auctioned after just one month of late fees, apparently. And Sabrina was fired for stealing money from the company?? This whole experience has been... something else. My mom is a hoarder and opened these units just to stuff all of our memories inside. Nothing in those units was valuable to anyone but us, and now it's all gone and our mom is unwell. The day is going to come where she's gone and so is everything we ever had to remember her by, because she stuffed it into a big metal box owned by a company that does not care and never will. Listen. I've been dealing with storage units most of my life at this point. If you're thinking of opening one, don't. I promise you'll regret it. Just buy a shack. Befriend someone with a garage. Downsize. Or at least, only have one for extremely limited use--like a month or two. Do not become a regular customer. Maybe this seems obvious to some, but for others, it does have to be said. These things are expensive and they love to hike up the fees, especially if you're loyal. I've watched my mom fight for years. It was excruciating, and now we're paying the ultimate cost. TLDR: this facility has switched owners multiple times and it will likely switch owners many more before it goes out of business. This can cause complications for you. It did for us. If you really need a unit, pick anywhere else. Pick Public Storage (and I do not like Public Storage, but I like them a sight better than Devon Storage now--sorry, Colonial Drive Self Storage.) Good luck. I hope you have a better experience. Old review: It's clean and air-conditioned, but it has switched ownership multiple times. The most recent time pushed us off of auto-pay without my knowledge (I was busy taking care of my ailing mother and her household), and we accrued hundreds of dollars of late fees and auction costs. I was horrified when I caught this and spoke with a rep who said they could take off the auction costs, but not the late fees. Since it was their fault, I was reasonably annoyed and resolved to switch units as soon as possible. Then, I spoke with Sabrina, and she was actually courteous and helpful and charming. This place is a mess sometimes, but she's one of the stars of this facility. Single-handedly kept us as customers.

No! no! and no! Always is an issue with the doors what always are malfunctioning, the codes are not working, and when the elevator is out of service we are 💥🔥💥🔥💥

West Colonial is a vein, and this place is the clot. A multi-story monolith of climate-controlled silence, standing like a fortress built to protect… what? The debris of a life lived in a trance. The overflow of a consumption so violent it has breached the walls of the home and spilled onto the street. It is a malignant cancer in the heart of Orlando. Every time I turn my head, another one of these beige tumors has metastasized over a patch of grass or a local memory. A monument to the Insidious Addiction. We have become a city of ghosts haunting our own junk, renting 10x10 squares of purgatory to store the "somedays" that were strangled by "yesterdays." I watch the cars queue at the gate— the slow, rhythmic pulse of the addicted. They carry their cardboard caskets into the fluorescent gut, paying a monthly tithe to a concrete god just so they don’t have to look at the truth of what they’ve bought. It is a hoarder’s tax. A ransom paid to keep the clutter from screaming. The Food Mart sells the sugar, but Colonial Drive Self Storage sells the burial plot for the waste. They sell "security" and "peace of mind," but they are really selling shame management. They provide the shadow where you can hide the evidence of a marketing scam that convinced you that more was better. I saunter past the keypad, unburdened and unbought. I have no code to memorize. I have no key to turn. My past is not locked in a ventilated box on the third floor; it is burned to ash and left in the wind. Let the city drown in its own corrugated steel. I am off the grid of their excess, leaving their beige boxes to rot under the Florida sun while I run light, while I run empty, into the dark.
